Twofer Tuesday - A Busy Week

I've made a bit of headway. I try to put down at least 750 words a day on the WIP. It's a manageable amount and some progress gets made. I thought I was going to do twice that amount, but discovered I was being a bit ambitious.
There's gardening to get at, and ordinary household matters as well.

Also, last week I was called away on important business

which prevented me from writing for a few days.
I did manage to get some reading and writing done, though.

Two lines I read:
"The gentleman gave Bekka a polite half-bow, stepped sideways into the shadows, and vanished. The adepts do it better, Bekka told herself."

-The Price of the Stars, by Debra Doyle and James D. Macdonald (Tor, 1992)
#
From my current WIP Dead Broke:

"It was a funny swirling happy feeling in that part of me where the heart had been. The one that got shattered by the bullet."

Your lines are sharp and poignant and bordering on Chandleresque. And great pic. Hm.. Romulan Ale? I'm intrigued.

I adore that kind of important business as I find, for me, it HELPS my WIP tremendously.

There are definitely some things that take precedence over everything else, so you can be forgiven for not writing for a few days.
Your lines are very interesting, and I look forward to more.

David, thanks. I appreciate the feedback on the writing. I'm glad you like the pic. Romulan Ale is for sale at the Vulcan Hotel and one of the liquor stores. We had some for lunch in celebration of Spock Comes Home to Vulcan, April 23.

Carla, the Ale is refreshing in more ways than one.

Bag Lady, you're right, and this was one of them. Glad you like the lines.

I liked your lines, Leah! I just can't wait for this to be done and spread around. I know Bag Lady's first, but aren't you going to need any other Beta, Gamma, or even Omega readers? : )

Also, I wish I'd read the tags on your photo first. Trying to fit in and be cool, I just toasted to your very good health with a tall pint of Nyquil. Gotta lie down now.

Clare, thank you. If you're offering to be a beta, gamma, delta, or otherwise I'll take you up on it. I need all the Greek alphabet readers I can get.
Hope the Nyquil wears off quickly.

No doubt you had a fun break. I like how the photo fits into the Twofer idea - the two of you with your two Romulan Ales.

How dare something like housework get in the way of the important stuff! LOL

Your writing always leaves me wanting the rest of the story.

I never considered that, Hilary. You're right as usual.

Housework's got its nerve, Messymimi. Thanks for your kindness about my writing.

The way I look at it - who is to say what really is the important business in life. It's only when it's all over that you can see clearly which were the important bits and which were not.

I bet no one is going to be lying on their deathbed thinking "I do wish I'd done more housework".

Your "important business" last week ie having heaps of fun with people with large ears, WAS probably just as important as your writing schedule.

You have to grab chunks of life so you can process it and create something from it.

Dawn, my time with my friend Sylvia was the most important.
You're right. We have to live life or there's not much point, and neither is there much to write about.

At this time of the year, I'm finding that my e-mails get full because there's so much to do outside. I've hardly made a dent in spring clean-up. Great lines!

I've put my retirement to good use, Mary. Glad you like my lines.

Totally understand, Redbush. Thanks.

I see the reason for not writing - a little nip among friends is just as important sometimes.

Leah J. Utas said...

Nancy, it takes precedence.

hehe. I enjoy the glimpses into your stories. You have a sharp and witty style. :)

Thank you, TL. That's good to know.
