Perspective

A trip along the parkway is good for the soul.
This is the summit of Sunwapta Pass in Jasper National Park and between Saskatchewan Crossing and the Columbia Icefields.
The road takes a long sweeping curve at the bottom of this pass and when I was young I was convinced that we'd turned right around and were heading back north.
Somehow, by dint of magic, we always ended up on Highway 1 and continued our journey south and west. It was years before I figured out how we did it.

Aaahhh, Sunwapta Pass!!! Haven't been there for a very long time. It certainly does give SWEEP a whole new meaning! (and I know what you mean about making you feel like you've totally turned around on yourself!)

Thanks for this reminder!

dfBag Lady, do you mean I'm not alone in my confusion?

No, not alone at all. When I was a child, it was very confusing to me as to what direction we finally ended up going after that immensely long, twisting sojourn. My sense of direction has improved a little since then (well, unless I'm in Nova Scotia, where Halifax and Dartmouth insist upon being reversed!)

Wow!! I soooo need to visit my neighbors to the north.... :-)

Yes you sure do, Missicat.

Oh, dfBag Lady, I understand. I have such issues with east and west sometimes. What is the sun doing way over there at this time of day?!

Beautiful photo Leah! I know what you mean too.

My friend from Britain, hasn't got a clue about direction though, so we should consider ourselves lucky. They don't worry if something is north or south, that just confuses them according to him.

Thanks, Reb. Good to know I have company.

Bunnygirl, you are very welcome.
It's a pleasure to take this pics, and an even bigger pleasure to share them and know they are appreciated.

It really is, TL. The Jasper-Banff Highway has some of the best scenery in the world.
